Children’s Hospital Los Angeles
Dear Joan:
This letter is long overdue. The funny thing is, I’m not even sure how I first found your organization, but suspect a patient’s family found your application on-line and asked me to submit on their behalf. Your organization is aptly named as you surely are a “small miracle” and a delight to work with.
In the past 7 months I have submitted a handful of applications to the Small Miracles Foundation. Your applications are easy to complete and the “red-tape” is non-existent. Most importantly, the help provided is immediate and tailored to fit the need of the family.
Through SMF, the parents of my cancer patients have received a wide variety of grants … everything from assistance with rent/mortgage to car payments, to coverage of unpaid medical bills. The most unusual and likely most healing was the grant to cover the cost of a prosthetic eye. One of our patients from Arizona had his eye removed due to cancer, but his insurance would not cover the cost of a “fake eye.” That prosthetic eye was vital to the little boy’s self-esteem & meant the world to his parents, who could not afford the prosthesis on their own.
I work with low-income families in crisis on a daily basis and, as a result, have also worked with numerous outside foundations to assist with resources. Your Small Miracles Foundation is just a joy to work with and I thank you for making these grants available.
Manny, many thanks!
Sincerely,
